We are very pleased to announce our partnership with the H2-HUB Switzerland, in the form of a mutual membership.

Power-to-X is a concept in which (mainly electrical) energy (power) is converted into various other forms of energy (or “X” for short). This can include the conversion of water, or water and carbon, or water and nitrogen into chemical molecules that can serve as energy carriers, such as hydrogen, methane, methanol, ammonia, synthetic fuels, synthetic oil, or other consumer products such as plastics etc., through to proteins (as a meat substitute).

By converting electrical energy into chemical energy (Power-to-X), hydrogen can link all sectors of the energy industry.

P2X technologies or e-fuels can be used where direct electrification is associated with particular challenges, such as industrial high-temperature processes, long and heavy road transport or air traffic. In general, e-fuels can be used if or where electrification is not progressing fast enough or where high energy densities are required and batteries are not a solution. The main advantage is that fossil carbon is no longer required.

One advantage of e-fuels is that they can be used directly via existing infrastructures such as gas networks and petrol stations or in the chemical industry.

In addition, e-fuels can serve as (seasonal) storage for renewable electricity and thus contribute to a successful energy transformation.

P2X is therefore an essential and necessary building block for defossilisation and for achieving our climate protection goals.
