Reality Check with Net Zero
On Tuesday, 22 September 2026, the Swiss Power-to-X community comes together at the Kursaal Bern for the annual national stocktaking of the sector: all Power-to-X pathways, all three language regions, industry, research and politics — in one room, on one day.
The congress merges two established formats — the former Power-to-Gas Kongress run by energie-cluster.ch and the SPIN Day run by the Swiss Power-to-X Collaborative Innovation Network (SPIN) — into one central meeting point for the sector.
What it’s about
Power-to-X in Switzerland is no longer a question of whether the technology works. It is a question of whether projects get financed, permitted and built — and what has to change so that they do.
The programme covers what is working today, what is not, and what stands in the way:
- The current state of the most important Power-to-X technologies and their role on the path to net zero
- Energy supply security, sector coupling, economic viability and defossilisation
- An up-to-date market overview, including how other countries are approaching the same problem
- Use cases from Switzerland and abroad — successful ones and instructive setbacks
- The regulatory and market conditions that decide whether a Swiss project gets built
Participants leave with a realistic basis for decisions, not a set of promises.
The World Café: your input goes somewhere
In the afternoon, participants work in parallel stations on the questions that decide the future of Power-to-X in Switzerland — from political levers and financing to imports, trinational cooperation in the Basel region and the industrialisation of Power-to-Gas and Power-to-Liquid.
The results do not stop at the door. The synthesis across all stations is taken up with SPIN’s political advisory board and fed into the Round Table on Energy Storage and the work on the Energy Perspectives 2060.
A national meeting point
By bringing together the strengths and networks of the Power-to-Gas Kongress and the SPIN Day, the congress creates synergies and connects leading players across the industry. With Réseau H2 Suisse Romande (by Nomads) joining as a strategic partner, the event is firmly anchored in French-speaking Switzerland and gains a truly national dimension.
Around 200 participants from industry, energy supply, research, administration and politics — small enough that you actually meet the people you came for.
