Alt text (English): Infographic illustrating Germany’s delayed hydrogen ramp-up and its implications for Switzerland. The Reichstag in Berlin and the Swiss Alps are connected by a hydrogen pipeline marked with German and Swiss flags. Four panels summarise Germany’s ten-point plan: cheaper production, infrastructure expansion, demand incentives and governance reform. Additional graphics highlight Germany’s 0.2 GW electrolysis capacity in 2025 against its original 10 GW target for 2030, alongside the risks of pipeline delays for Switzerland and the need for stronger demand incentives and renewable hydrogen.

Infographic comparing conventional Power-to-Liquid production with direct CO₂ electrolysis for synthetic aviation fuel (e-SAF). The conventional process uses separate hydrogen production and CO₂ synthesis, while the experimental TU Berlin approach converts CO₂ and water directly into ethylene (C₂H₄), which is subsequently upgraded into jet fuel. An e-SAF aircraft illustrates the potential application. The headline questions whether the separate hydrogen production step can be eliminated.

Photorealistic illustration of Switzerland’s path to net-zero emissions by 2040, featuring the Federal Palace in Bern, a Swiss Air Force military transport aircraft, a federal government vehicle and a Swiss military truck. A renewable fuels facility labelled e-SAF, e-Diesel and HVO symbolises the role of sustainable fuels in defossilising federal operations. The Swiss Alps form the backdrop. Text reads: “The Confederation goes net zero by 2040 – Renewable fuels must be part of the plan.”

Cinematic infographic showing an Iveco truck transporting dimethyl ether (DME) through the Swiss Alps, alongside a detailed cutaway of the FPT Cursor 11 engine and the molecular structure of DME (CH₃–O–CH₃). Research by Empa and FPT Motorenforschung demonstrates that DME can achieve diesel-level efficiency with virtually zero soot emissions and only minor engine modifications. The illustration highlights renewable DME production from green hydrogen and recycled CO₂, reduced exhaust after-treatment requirements, efficient part-load operation and the potential to meet future Euro 7 emission standards.

Editorial illustration showing France and Germany’s agreement on a proposed new category of zero-emission vehicles (VEEFs) powered exclusively by eligible renewable and low-carbon fuels. The Eiffel Tower and Brandenburg Gate symbolise the Franco-German initiative, while an e-fuel-powered passenger car, a truck and a renewable fuel station illustrate potential applications. An infographic highlights the proposed regulatory framework, including zero-emission status, eligible fuels, flexible implementation timing and technical safeguards. A map of Europe highlights France and Germany. The headline reads: “Paris and Berlin agree on zero-emission vehicles.”

Cinematic illustration of INERATEC’s ERA ONE Power-to-Liquid plant in Frankfurt-Höchst, showing how renewable hydrogen and recycled CO₂ are converted into synthetic crude through Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and subsequently upgraded into sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF). A Lufthansa aircraft symbolises the aviation application. An inset illustrates Zeopore’s advanced zeolite catalysts, which improve hydrocracking efficiency, increase kerosene yields and reduce hydrogen consumption by double-digit percentages. The infographic highlights how on-site upgrading, improved catalysts and lower hydrogen demand can reduce the production costs of synthetic aviation fuel.

Rolls-Royce mtu emergency power generator connected to a tank of INERATEC MATERA e-Diesel outside a modern data centre, with illuminated server racks and a Swiss cityscape at dusk. An infographic highlights laboratory test results, including compliance with selected EN 15940 requirements, fuel stability, compatibility with engine specifications and a calorific value comparable to fossil diesel. The image illustrates the potential of synthetic diesel made from renewable hydrogen and recycled CO₂ to defossilise backup power systems without replacing existing generators.
