Alt text (English): Infographic showing green hydrogen production at the Kubel hydropower plant in St. Gallen, Switzerland. A 2 MW electrolyser produces up to 36 kg of hydrogen per hour, supplying existing hydrogen refuelling stations and potentially the local gas grid. Green arrows illustrate the two distribution pathways. The OST study examines technical feasibility, gas quality regulations, economic viability and scalability of hydrogen blending.

Editorial illustration of Switzerland’s proposed Mineral Oil Tax Ordinance revision, with the Federal Palace, a renewable-fuel filling station and an airport. Green checkmarks identify fuels eligible for a zero tax rate, including renewable petrol, hydrogen, methanol, DME and biofuels. Red crosses highlight the missing zero-rate provisions for synthetic diesel and e-kerosene. Additional panels show tax exemptions for pilot plants, the 2030 expiry date and the lack of automatic recognition of EU fuel certification.

Infographic showing how a new gas recombination catalyst reduces hydrogen crossover in alkaline electrolysers by more than 95%. Platinum nanoparticles integrated into the Zirfon separator recombine stray hydrogen and oxygen into water, improving safety and efficiency while enabling thinner separators and more active cathodes for cheaper green hydrogen and Power-to-X applications.
