Power-to-X depends on two ingredients: renewable energy and carbon. The first rightly attracts most of the attention, but the carbon side of the equation is just as decisive. Synthetic fuels, e-methanol and other defossilised chemicals can only be climate-relevant if their carbon comes from sustainable sources rather than fresh fossil extraction. This is precisely where our newest member adds strength to the network.

Who is novoMOF?

Founded in 2017 as a spin-off from the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and based in Zofingen, novoMOF is a Swiss climate-tech company enabling next-generation CO₂ capture systems through proprietary Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and a selected partner ecosystem.

The company focuses on capturing CO₂ from various emission sources, enabling cost-effective, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly carbon capture for industry and energy generation.

By combining proprietary MOF technology with a selected partner ecosystem, novoMOF supports the deployment of compact CO₂ capture systems across applications ranging from cement and waste-to-energy plants to biogas and other decentralized emission sources.

Building on advances in a field recognized by the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2025, novoMOF is focused on translating breakthrough science into real-world industrial deployment.
