Power-to-X processes are essential for the energy transition. They allow us to store hard-to-store energy, like electricity, by converting it into easily storable chemical molecules and help make combustion processes fossil-free. Common products include hydrogen, synthetic gas, and synthetic fuels, like the synthetic gasoline that has been produced in Chile for Porsche since two years.

On November 6 and 7, 2024, the Power-to-X DAYS will be held at JED in Schlieren, organized by Avenergy, Swissmem, and the Swiss Power-to-X Collaborative Innovation Network (SPIN).

On Congress Day, November 6, 2024, experts will discuss the advancement of Power-to-X technologies in Switzerland and neighboring countries, covering topics such as hydrogen strategies, the future of fuel cell transport, and decentralized energy solutions. Distinguished speakers will explore innovations in policy, market trends, and technology aimed at achieving net-zero emissions, culminating in a roundtable on aligning technology, policy, and market needs.

SPIN DAY on November 7, 2024, will focus on solutions for scaling up Power-to-X production, bringing together politics, finance, and industry.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin will discuss the importance of Power-to-X for Switzerland, and Cantonal Councillor Carmen Walker Späh will highlight innovation’s role in the energy transition.

Starting with a thought-provoking introduction by Stephan Klapproth, the day will feature presentations and a panel discussion among leaders in politics, finance, production, and technology on what each sector needs to support this transformation. Speakers include National Councillors Martin Bäumle and Monika Rüegger, Tanja Furrer (Sustainable Finance Lead at UBS), Arne Siemens (Porsche), Luca Schmidlin (CTO of AlphaSYNT), Hans Hess (Board Chairman of Synhelion), Nicole Vermeulen (Chief Industrial Officer of Hy24), Dr. René Cotting (CFO of SMARTENERGY), and Dr. Anna Gawlikowska (CEO of Swiss AI AG), who will show how AI can help in planning new infrastructure.

In the afternoon, workshops will tackle challenges raised in the morning, focusing on concrete actions to encourage innovation and investment. The goal is to come up with actionable solutions to accelerate the growth and funding of Power-to-X in Switzerland and beyond.
